This is the diploma project at MAS in Design for Luxury and craftsmanship of Écal in 2018.
I would like to express the sense of alienation and depression while I've felt in a two-year hiatus in Korea after the ceramic collection in 2015. And I put in an object a personal moment of various and subtle emotions to overcome my loneliness.
In the moment of daily contrast, such as sadness and joy, love and hatred, hope and frustration, beauty and ugly, I expressed myself using the contrasting texture of ceramic and fabric that felt true self and beauty.
Ceramic is a very special material for me. I used to hate it because it contained the stress of the past, which always followed perfect and wonderful looks. However, by making the ceramic with my hands again, it was an opportunity to release the tangled thread one by one, touching with every step of past.
It was a bumpy and distorted from, but it allowed me to experience the healing of the mind in the process of accepting its own image.
2015년의 세라믹 컬렉션 이후, 2년간 방황하는 시기를 보내며 한국에서 느꼈던 소외감과 우울함.
그 것들을 극복해 나가면서 느꼈던 복잡 미묘한 감정들이 담긴 개인적인 순간들을 오브제에 담았습니다.
슬픔과 기쁨, 사랑과 증오, 희망과 좌절, 아름다움과 추함 등, 일상에서 느끼는 대조적인 감정, 그것들이 공존하는 순간에서
'진정한 자신의 모습'과 '아름다움'을 느꼈습니다. 그리고 그 것을 세라믹과 비단 실의 대비되는 질감을 사용하여 표현합니다.
저에게 ‘세라믹’은 늘 완벽하고 멋진 모습만을 쫓았던 과거의 스트레스를 떠올리게 하는 소재였습니다.
하지만 세라믹을 직접 손으로 만들면서, 나의 지난 과거와 직접 맞닿으며, 그 엉킨 실타래를 하나씩 풀어 나가게 됩니다.
울퉁불퉁하고 일그러진 형태의 결과물, 하지만 본인 스스로 그 자체의 모습을 받아들이는 과정에서
마음의 치유를 경험할 수 있었던 작업이었습니다.
